Hey all, I've been trying for a few days to access a specific room on here. I'm currently running the following:
Firefox or IE7
http://www.everywherechat.com/chatnow.php

I've cleared my search history, cookies, etc. I've tried logging into the room as Guest with no password and just the room name, Guest with room name and password, my name with no password, and my name with password.

What's happening is I get a connecting scroll bar that just scrolls and scrolls. I've left it run for 30+ minutes with no log-in at all.

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

I can successfully embed the client into my site, but because the width of my main column is only about 550px, the chat client is very narrow (because the Roomies window is so wide).

Is there any way to change that so it fits better? Thanks!

Also, is there any way to hide the other rooms? My site is 100% family-friendly, and being able to see the other adult rooms might have to prevent me from using this software (which I love, BTW!)

Thanks!

Hello! I've been using EWC for some time now, not actually using it myself per se, but I've been on a lot of websites that use it, and back in the day I was on a website that used the java based version of it.

I remember the java version having an unlimited text amount, where you could type as much as you wanted and it would simply cut off, and put [message continues in 22 seconds] or something similar. But I've noticed the new flash version doesn't have that, yet it still lets you type an unlimited amount of text, and it even shows however much you typed, but other users only see a portion of it.

Would there be a way to implement a fix for this? Maybe cut off the text amount where the client is going to, add a "x of y characters used" line below the text area, or maybe even re-implementing the [message continues in 22 seconds] feature? Or is there still a way to get such a feature on the new ewc?

Some friends and I are currently building a website that needs a chat with large text areas like that, and I would really love to use EWC, since it's really the all around best free chat software out there, but it lacks some of the features I miss oh so much.

Or if anyone knows of a chat service that does provide such things, well... I suppose the mods/admins wouldn't approve of promoting other services, but still.

EDIT:
Also, forgot to say, big thanks to anyone answering my questions and such. You guys rock.

RSL Error 1 of 1. Error 2048

As shown in this image:
http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/599/19681354.png

I'm assuming this has to do with client updates, and flex? But I don't have enough knowledge about flash clients to help.
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/he...sl_10.html

2) Memoserv issues? I'm sure you're aware of this. Any time you come in as a registered name, you're notified of having 1 message.

3) There has always been a bug in the client that let's you login as any registered name. Fortunately, if you login as an op registered name, you don't get mod status. I just thought I'd let you know though. If you don't know how it's done (the bug), hit me up via my forum email.

Many thanks for your time and effort, hopefully these issues can get resolved asap since some people can't use my chatroom and it's a pretty crucial element of running my site

Good Evening,

Please pardon my post if this has already been answered. I did a search of the forum and didn't come up with anything. Those in the Support channel suggested I post here.

I really like the way the flash client looks and would really like to utilize it on my group's website. The issue that I am coming up with is that many of the members would be accessing from work, and after testing, are unable to connect.

We have done a bit of troubleshooting using other IRC servers and have determined the issue is based on what ports are opened on their firewall. It appears that non web ports are closed, while 80 and 8080 work okay.

I have attempted to connect to port 8080 on irc.everywherechat.com and found that the daemon appears to not be running on that port.

So my three questions are:
1) Would it be possible to open this port for use on the server?
2) Is there an argument I can pass to the flash client when it loads to have it connect to this port instead of the standard 6667?
3) Does your server require the use of identd (since that port would be blocked as well, as we've learned with a major IRC network's servers that do have port 8080 open.)

Thanks for your consideration,
Chris

So my three questions are:
1) Would it be possible to open this port for use on the server?
2) Is there an argument I can pass to the flash client when it loads to have it connect to this port instead of the standard 6667?
3) Does your server require the use of identd (since that port would be blocked as well, as we've learned with a major IRC network's servers that do have port 8080 open.)

Thanks for your consideration,
