Hello! I had a thread like this on the previous forums but never had a chance to see if it was ever responded to. Well, I have a private chat on a personal gaming site. I have been using EVERYWHERECHAT for a few months now, and ever since the server update certain settings will not save. Room admin, mods, and speakers stay but the password resets once the room empties along with the 'private setting' is there a way that you can fix this. I am the Host of the room, my name is Silens_Caelum and the room name is SmashBrotherhood
If you need any other information please let me know, thank you in advance.

RE: Chat room settings won't save.
I have set room modes for your room to private (p) and secret (s). Your room doesn't appear in the roomlist.
We will check into the password problem, although a password is not that relevant, only[/font] members of your site or people who know the correct roomname can join by typing /join #SmashBrotherhood Everywherechat staff font=Trebuchet MS] (09-06-2008 05:25 AM)Silens_Caelum Wrote: Hello! RE: Chat room settings won't save.
I'm having this problem as well. If the webpage closes or I need to restart my computer, everything resets and my channel (#Xt3) is no longer secure from outsiders. I have to log back in, change all my settings and stay logged in for them to take hold.
If I'm at the computer, I can fix it quickly, but if I'm asleep, it becomes a serious issue for my chat members. Denise |

RE: Chat room settings won't save.
In order to lock those modes you need to set them through services.
/msg chanserv set #SmashBrotherhood mlock +s We used to save all modes, but for a few hundred rooms used on a semi regular basis, tends of thousands of rooms were saving this sort of information and never being used. This slowed things down for everyone. We're looking to avoid this, now. |

I am no longer listed as Owner and the room settings ("secret" & roomkey) won't save. We can't watch these rooms 24/7, but if everyone can access we remain liable for what happens there. This is an untenable situation. We need to correct it or we can't use this service. PLS ADVISE. |

It seems your rooms have been unregistered, the founder of the channel "Room Creator" needs to join the room every so often otherwise services will unregister the channel. Please join the #support room on the server so we can assist you. EveryWhereChat Admin

RE: Chat room settings won't save.
Is once every two weeks not enough? Because I log in at least that often for exactly that reason.

RE: Chat room settings won't save.
i'm not sure how long it is before services unregisters the room but i think once a week will be fine. also if nobody is alive in support just try again later.

Well, at this point I cannot fix the problem. This is about the 15th time I've had to reload rooms due to one issue or another, but this one just represents too great a liability. Since people are still logging into the room, I can't afford to wait for support to wander in. I've dumped all the rooms associated with my accounts (nicknames "ado_admin" and "Morgaine"). Please feel free to remove them all from your servers. Strangely, my nickname is still registered, it's the room that's not. I really did love the look and basic functionality of your chatrooms, but we can't afford this much uncertainty about settings. It's too great a legal risk in these times. Also, we hold member meetings twice a month and we aren't planning to increase that to suit the chatroom client. If we'd known in the beginning we wouldn't have bothered using this service. You might want to suggest putting some of this information up front, where people can see it at signup. It would save them and you a lot of headache later on. Maybe we will try you again later on, when the service is more stable and the requirements are more clear. |

RE: Chat room settings won't save.
The service is stable. However, this is a free service, and we simply cannot afford to maintain indefinitely registered rooms. Thousands of rooms are registered every month. A large number of those are abandoned. By leaving these rooms for extended periods of time, it would impact the service for people who are actively using their rooms.
